Introducing WP.Chat – The best AI chat for WordPressers

Today, we’re thrilled to announce the release of WP.Chat, a free AI chat tool designed specifically for the WordPress community.

WP.Chat aims to be a quick and accurate general assistant for anyone working with WordPress.

Our goal was to create a tool accessible to everyone. Visitors can use a limited version without signing up, while free users enjoy high message limits and access to two Pro Modes at no cost.

Pro users get unlimited access to all features (pricing page).

We’re particularly proud of our free plan, which stands out among AI products in the WordPress space. With generous usage limits, any WordPress user can access top AI features to learn, troubleshoot, and enhance their workflow.

With this product, we’re not reinventing the wheel. It’s not the most groundbreaking, earth-shattering release (like AgentWP will be), but it is something that should add value to anybody that uses it.

Features

WP.Chat matches the capabilities of popular chat systems like ChatGPT while improving accuracy for WordPress tasks through custom AI models and pipelines. We’ve also enhanced the user experience with WordPress-specific tooling.

Plugin Specific Modes

WP.Chat’s standout feature is its plugin-specific AI modes (just like CodeWP). These modes are designed to provide tailored assistance for popular WordPress plugins, leveraging industry-leading fine-tuned models.

Each mode has access to the plugins public documentation, changelogs, various code snippets and more. This allows WP.Chat to offer highly accurate and contextual support for plugin-specific queries, making it an invaluable tool for both developers and users working with these plugins.

Whether you’re troubleshooting an issue, exploring customization options, or simply trying to understand how a plugin works, these specialized modes can provide insights and solutions with unprecedented accuracy.

WordPress Plugin and Product Suggestions

Using the same tech that powers CodeWP’s AI Plugin Search, WP.Chat offers accurate suggestions for plugins, themes, and products.

These suggestions come with a dedicated UI, indicating whether a solution is free, its type (plugin, SaaS), and other relevant details.

We plan to develop a dedicated Search UI in the future to streamline the process of finding the perfect solution.

Database Visualizations

Pro users can request database visualizations, allowing them to chat conversationally with the AI to better understand how WordPress and popular plugins utilize the database and the impact of various changes.

Accurate Code Snippets

While WP.Chat won’t build entire plugins, it can create highly accurate code snippets by leveraging different modes.

The generated code is superior to other generalist AI chatbots thanks to our fine-tuned WordPress-specific models.

We’re also planning a “send to CodeWP” feature, enabling users to transfer basic snippets to the AI IDE for expansion into more complete solutions like plugins, utilizing code-specific tools such as AI testing and debugging.

What’s in it for us?

WP.Chat allows us to test new systems, datasets, and models at scale before deploying them to our more complex products like AgentWP and CodeWP.

As a freemium system, WP.Chat offers a Pro plan with unlimited messages, all AI modes, and additional features.

Subscriptions to the Pro plan will help us improve all our products and accelerate our mission of solving WordPress’s biggest problems with AI.

How does it work?

WP.Chat utilizes a setup similar to our existing CodeWP and AgentWP platforms. It employs a mixture of frontier and fine-tuned models, along with a sequence of classification steps (pipeline) to process user messages.

The system uses semantic clustering, fuzzy keyword matching, NER, fine-tuned classifier models, and user inputs to select the best model for each task and gather relevant data for accurate generation.

As a more general tool, WP.Chat uses a relatively open-ended, small pipeline system to prioritize speed while maintaining accuracy and allowing for more general responses.

Industry-Specific Pipelines & Tooling

Being purpose-built for WordPress, WP.Chat incorporates industry-specific tooling and datasets to provide the most accurate and relevant answers possible. For example, plugin-specific modes utilize industry-leading fine-tuned models with access to SQL modifications, code snippets, public documentation, and more.

Data Support for Grounded Generations

To ensure accuracy and up-to-date information, we focus on grounding generations in verified data. We’ve invested significant effort in curating datasets and building infrastructure (called IKE) to serve the right information at the right time.

Is there a roadmap?

We have an internal roadmap for WP.Chat and plan to move quickly in adding new features. Some key areas of focus include:

  1. Better models: Testing promising new AI models for eventual integration into AgentWP.
  2. Sources: Adding source citations to generations and messages for transparency and additional resources.
  3. Expanded datasets: Centralizing massive datasets from CodeWP and AgentWP to improve accuracy across our product suite.
  4. Enhanced screenshot implementation: Leveraging our existing screenshot libraries to allow AI to mark up images with highlights and arrows for better illustration.
  5. Deeper integration with existing WPAI products: Enabling features like chatting with WordPress sites that have an agent installed.
  6. Plugin/product search UI: Developing an improved WordPress-specific search feature to find relevant plugins, themes, and other resources within our ecosystem.

Conclusion

While this isn’t the most groundbreaking launch, WP.Chat offers value to everyone in the WordPress community. Our aim is to provide a WordPress-specific AI platform that can assist with coding, content creation, troubleshooting, and learning about individual plugins and WordPress core.

We’re excited to continue improving and expanding this tool to better serve the WordPress ecosystem.
